It originally launched over 15 years ago and quickly became a major force across the city helping to re-shape Bristol’s media landscape with a strong campaigning edge that saw many high profile politicians and business leaders have their feet held to the fire on behalf of local people.
From the Colston Hall name change, Bristol bus fares, the use of bailiffs by Bristol City Council and questionable conduct by the local police force, The One Love Breakfast held them all to account and often got results.
On Monday 30th September the much-loved breakfast show goes back on air from 7 to 9am in a new live format, hosted by former BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and Galaxy radio presenter Diggz who has relocated back to Bristol after a number of years away.
BCfm development lead Marcus Smith said “We’re really excited here at BCfm to have someone of Diggz’s calibre at the station.”
“He’s also joined our programming team and has helped to secure new shows and presenters including Full Cycle Radio (Roni Size’s label), Ninja Tunes legend DJ Cridge and Ava Marshall who will also present a programme called Big Belly Conversations alongside long time collaborator Teddy Good.”
The new BCfm schedule builds on the already high quality output of legends like Tristan B, Deli G, John Ford and Steffi Bartnett.
Presenter and Trustee Sherrie Eugene Hart said “We’ve always championed diversity and inclusion in our output and we offer the city really good quality, innovative and creative programming that includes those voices.”
“We hope to inspire a future generation of broadcasters and content makers who can work in partnership with major media outlets like the BBC and maybe turn their hobbies and passions into a potential career.”
The new BCfm radio schedule offers over 75 weekly shows representing virtually every aspect of Bristol life. The station broadcasts across the city and county of Bristol on 93.2fm, on DAB, across all major smart speaker apps (“Play BCfm Radio”) and via bcfmradio.com.
