BCfm Radio is delighted to be working with South Asian Voices Bristol CIC on a brand new radio project exploring climate change through the experiences, stories and perspectives of Bristol’s South Asian communities.
Thanks to £19,000 in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, the new Climate Connections project will bring a two hour monthly radio show to the airwaves from June to October. The programme will create space for conversations around climate change, culture, wellbeing, identity and community, while helping more people feel part of the discussion.

Climate change affects everyone, but not everyone has the same opportunity to shape the conversation. Climate Connections aims to change that by putting community voices at the heart of the programme.
South Asian Voices Bristol CIC was founded in 2024 by Sheetal Jetwa and has quickly become known for creating spaces where people can connect, share experiences and celebrate South Asian culture. The organisation has previously partnered with BCfm, including a special International Women’s Day radio takeover.
Sheetal says the project is about much more than climate change alone.
“It is about connection, culture, community and creating spaces where people feel seen and heard.”
The new show will feature local stories, discussions and lived experiences, helping listeners explore how climate change connects to everyday life, families, communities and future generations.
At BCfm, we believe community radio has an important role to play in bringing people together, sharing knowledge and amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream media. We are excited to support this project and welcome new audiences into the conversation.
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for broadcast dates and ways to get involved.
BCfm is also the home to the weekly climate radio show One Love One Planet (OLOP), which invites a range of guests from artists, activists, politicians, campaigners to everyday eco heroes.
