Former radio breakfast hosts discuss life with cancer.
Pat Hart for BCfm and Laura Rawlings for BBC Radio Bristol have united for a new series of no-holds-barred podcasts on life with the disease, in The Blooming Bleep Cancer Podcast.
The former breakfast show presenters are both undergoing treatment for cancer – Laura with triple negative breast cancer, and Pat with Lymphoma.
Having worked together over the last decade, Laura and Pat decided to sit down and record their experiences. What followed was the first in a series of open and honest conversations about life with cancer. In the first show – the pair discuss how they received the news, and how it changed their lives.
Laura Rawlings said: “I’ve been off-air since my diagnosis last May and life’s been a rollercoaster ever since. Treatment’s tough and I need to get back to one of the things I love and miss – talking, listening and sharing stories. Recording with Pat is cathartic – it lifts my spirits. I hope we can help others dealing with difficult health challenges, raise awareness and inspire people not live on autopilot.’’
Pat Hart said: “It’s difficult to talk openly about it especially for men. I’ve always enjoyed being interviewed by Laura on the BBC in the past and welcomed the opportunity to do this with someone whom I respect and trust “
The first episode of The Blooming Bleep Cancer Podcast is available below, and on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, via the BCfm Radio website and on all good podcast services.
New episodes will be released fortnightly.
