Tributes pour in for Christina

Tributes have been flooding in following the death of Bcfm Radio’s Christina Robino on Sunday 18th October 2020.

Bristol Community FM’s CEO Pat Hart made the announcement on social media yesterday after learning of Christina’s passing part way through his Shades Of Soul Show on the station.
“ Some things are just more important and I was devastated to hear the news after getting a text from my colleague Neil Maggs so I spoke with my co – host Mikie Rods and we decided to stop the show and just leave on a mix for the duration”

Christina was a director, Trustee and head of finance at Bcfm as well as being an ambassador for a number of years but more importantly said Mr Hart “She was a member of our extended family and we feel robbed of a shining light”

Penny Brohn Cancer help Centre, The Lord Mayors Children’s appeal, Harbour Festival, International Women’s Day,  Venue Magazine, The Spark and a host of other organisations & charities were helped and supported by Christina who was a mentor and a maverick in so many ways. She had a massive impact on the city and many of those that work here.

Bristol’s Mayor Marvin Rees and former Lord Mayors Peter Main, Faruk Choudhury and Cleo Lake all posted messages of condolence with Cleo Lake saying “I will miss her so much I’m so sad I can’t believe this”

Bristol Entrepreneur Charmaine Lawrence whose Nine Cosmetic brand and Mogul Magazine have been supported by Christina simply said “I’m just so upset right now I don’t even have the words”

The passing of Christina was a shock to many as she was only recently diagnosed with cancer following issues with her back. She was keen not to make it public but instead wanted to continue working and in her own words told her close circle that she “didn’t want a pity party” and just needed to carry on.

Information of the funeral and where donations (not flowers) can be sent will be published once the family has finalised plans.
In the meantime those wishing to express memories or condolences can find the posts on the Bcfm Radio facebook page here and add tributes.
