New BCfm Oral History Training Workshop

BCfm is offering a one-day free, fun and practical introduction to oral history in partnership with UWE Bristol and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

You will learn through teaching and group activities how to conduct your own interviews using voice recorders and smartphones.

Training Workshop Structure

– What is oral history?

– Understanding memory

– Recording equipment and apps

– Interview do’s and don’ts

– Practice interviews

Tea/Coffee/Water and Lunch will be provided.

No experience is required, but you must be available on Saturday 3rd December 2022 (10am – 4pm) at Easton Community Centre.

There will be opportunities to use your new skills and knowledge after the training workshop through a new two-year oral history project with BCfm Radio.

How to apply

Places are very limited.

Simply make a 60-second audio recording OR write in no more than 200 words telling us why you like to take part. You can record this any way you like (smartphone is fine).

Then email your audio piece or words to marcus.smith@bcfm.org.uk by MIDDAY Thursday 24th November 2022 along with your name and phone number.
