RADIO SHOW FAN TRAVELS FROM DOWN UNDER TO MEET BCfm’s OLD GITS

Robin Trulock loves listening to his favourite radio show broadcast weekly on Wednesday lunchtimes across Bristol from BCfm, the city’s first community radio station.

The thing is Robin lives in Sydney, Australia which is nine hours ahead of UK time.  That doesn’t put Robin off though as he is able to listen live via the radio station’s global on line feed. Robin (originally from Bristol) has lived in Australia for 40 years and regularly interacts with the Old Gits and Hits Show via email.  He was determined to meet the show’s presenters so when Robin arranged to be in the UK for a family wedding, he contacted the Old Gits to see if they had some time.  And the show’s presenters – John Ford, David Southway, Chris Criddle and Chris Wood were only too pleased to oblige.  They agreed to get together at one of Robin’s old Bristol haunts, The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer in King Street.

Robin said “I just love their show, I listen every single week and if I can’t listen live I use the catch up service on the BCfm website.  Their show is really addictive as they talk about the things I like to talk about and they are so funny.  It was great to meet them”.

The Old Gits and Hits Show is an improvised, unplanned half talk, half music radio programme broadcast each Wednesday at 12 noon from BCfm 93.2.  It is hosted by Bristol radio veterans, John Ford, David Southway, Chris Criddle and Chris Wood.

John Ford said “It was lovely to meet with Robin.  We had a great chat about all sorts of things, the kind of stuff we talk about each week on the show.  In fact, we droned on all night – a bit like we do on the show”

The Old Gits and Hits Show is also syndicated to Bradley Stoke Radio, Glastonbury FM and Swindon 105.5
