Diversity Awards announced for 19th May

The 2nd annual Bristol Diversity Awards ceremony has been announced for Saturday 19th May to be held at Mecure Bristol Holland House Hotel & Spa. Last year saw the inaugural event being launched as part of community radio station BCfm Radio’s 10th anniversary celebrations where Dr Paul Stephenson OBE gained a lifetime achievement award and Bristol Pride’s Daryn Carter was also recognised.

The 2018 ceremony will give out 26 awards covering all aspects of diversity and will even include politicians, media and business. Members of the public can nominate online through the website www.bristoldiversityawards.co.uk

E-Com media’s Sherrie Eugene-Hart who are joint sponsors of the event said “ We were thrilled to be part of this event last year where diversity is encouraged and celebrated and the increase in the amount of awards on offer is a major step forward for the city that we love”

Squadron Leader Brian Ramsey, from Royal Air Force Recruiting & Selection said “We are delighted to once again be sponsoring the Bristol Diversity Awards. The RAF is an equal opportunities employer that recognises the value of an individual’s ability regardless of their gender, colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, background, religion or belief, sexual orientation or marital status or civil partnership.   We believe that harnessing the talents and skills of individuals from different groups enhances operational effectiveness.”

One of the organising team Victoria Tiley said she is excited about the reaction to this years format, she said  “We have increased the number of awards available because that’s what the public have asked us to do! It’s a partnership approach that mixes the views of the public and the views of diversity experts to decide our shortlists and eventual winners”

With the event happening in May 2018 there’s still time to get involved by nominating businesses, organisations or individuals who champion various areas of diversity from age, faith, religion, disability, gender or sexuality. Nominations close at midnight on 28th February with shortlisted nominees announced seven days later.

Tables for both dinner and a buffet are available via eventbrite or by visiting www.bristoldiversityawards.co.uk where there are also opportunities for local business and organisations to get involved and support or sponsor particular awards.
