They came from far and wide to celebrate what has become an unprecedented national news story.

Up Our Street’s Stacey Yelland Presented the Radio Academy Award to Volunteers David Goodhind, George Moss and Muhliim Barre. All three volunteers gave testimonies of how much they love the station and `the massive impact BCfm has had on their lives.

In an emotional speech Station manager Patrick Hart revealed how the station nearly closed 3 years ago after the cash ran out to pay for a full time Station Manager and how he, current Chair Ali Grant and a handful of dedicated board members & volunteers worked through a very traumatic time to turn the station around. He paid tribute in particular to Ali Grant whom he described as a “real strength and positive influence” at a time when many people would have walked away. Mr Hart also praised the 180 strong team of BCfm volunteers whom he described as the most dedicated group of individuals he had ever worked with.
